I’m using Ma’am Issa’s laptop right now. Good thing this could connect to the internet already – I can spend my spare time browsing and feeding myself with new things. We are busy preparing for the upcoming United Nations week. Freakin’ cramming and stress! We are finishing everything in just one week. As if we’re superhuman.

I’m assigned to do the invitations and everything that is connected to editing, writing, designing and computer. Those are what secretaries do. And I am the club’s secretary. So unfortunate. But I’m quite okay with it. At least I won’t host the event. I get tongue-tied a lot.

We just had our exams, btw. And my mind was over used again. Heck that Math! I was not able to finish it. Good thing we have additional points in the periodicals for ALL our subjects! Yehey! Lucky, lucky.

I’m watching PBB also. I’m diggin’ on Rob! I love the accent much. But if you’d ask me for a pure Filipino, of course, I’d choose Jason. He looks like a rugged Santino. Haha!

I added new songs in my playlist the last time I blogged.

I say:

Dear Samuel,

Happy, happy Birthday! Another year of nothing but pure happiness and success. I just hope I could personally greet you on your exact birthday, but that just seem impossible. So anyway, I hope you will appreciate my message for you (Good thing the Elites and Admins has great, great minds; they thought of doing this. Coolness.). So moving on, I really hope that you are in good condition and also your family. I hope that you are having a blast on your birthday. And I also hope everything is fine and falling exactly where you’d want them to be. You’ve been very blessed: in your career, family, friends, and fans of course. And by that, I would want to congratulate you. I know that you deserved all of these, because you are a good person, a very loving son and sibling, a trusted friend, a totally superb performer, a very effective ambassador, an all-time top Candy Cutie, and a faithful Christian. God knows that; and He believes in you. So just continue what you love to do (which I know you will) because, believe it or not, you inspire a lot of people in your own little way. I don’t know how, but I just know that you do. :)

Keep in mind that we, Samsters, will forever be here for you. We are ready to back you up. And oh, by the way, we love you!

So, yes, just keep the ball rolling and do what is right. Give people awesome performances and continue to be an inspiration and youth role model to others, to us. Have an ecstatic birthday! God Bless!

Always,
Faye

David and Goliath

16 September 2009, Friday.

This day was Lalaine’s birthday. I was invited to come for the celebration. I decided to go because it would be unethical to decline her invitation, and I was free this day. After classes, I headed straight back home to drop my things off. Though we still have an event in our school, I did not stay. We had ‘Sagip Kaeskwela’ relief operations in our gymnasium. We were not really obliged to stay, so I did not.

While taking a tricycle to her house, I had the chance to watch the streets, houses and people. Everyone looked so busy, and everything seemed out of order. Maybunga area was greatly affected by the typhoon. The ride went slow. At the end of the street, there was a long line of people. Sweaty, tired people, waiting for their own pack of relief goods. I then realized, from the look on their faces, how hard it was to have something for their stomachs, to still live, to survive. It was my first time to witness such a thing.

As we went even slower, I had enough time to stare and observe at every corner, at every person’s face. I saw a man and a child drying papers under the sun. They looked like torn pages from books. Poor students. There was also a little boy, with only one leg, clinging on his crutches for his dear life. It was just heartbreaking to see this children suffer at such a young age. At one side there were big piles of papers and anything worth recycling. At this side, big mountains of garbage and wastes and pieces of broken things. Disappointed parents and starve-looking children were everywhere. I saw two of them sitting on plastic chairs, looking rather hungry and unhappy. There were also grown up men and women, all busy with recovering. You could see from their faces that they were devastated because of the tragedy. All of us were.

But though their situation was nerve-wracking, especially those living near the river, they could still manage to smile, to have a laugh, to be happy, to hope for a new beginning. They survived, and they were grateful for that.

It is true that we should learn to shrug things off, to never give up and to not be hopeless. Things come and go. And this is just one of them things. We are tough people, and our faith in God makes us even stronger in times like these. With Him, the love and support from people, this will just be a Goliath; we will be David. And the Davids end up winning, right?

Fantastic FOUR years!

Together, let's all sing...
It's more than you, it is more than me
No matter what we are, we are a family
This dream is for all of us, this one can be real,
And you can’t stop us now because of how you feel..

We are a family like a giant tree branching out towards the sky,
We are a family, and there’s so much more than just you and I
We are a family like a giant tree, growing stronger, growing wiser
We are growing free.. We are a family...
