I Am Blah, Blah Today
26 July 2010, MondayIt’s the first day of another school week. We should start our Monday right... and I did mine reluctantly. I need more sleep, okay? But anyway, I’m getting used to college as time passes by.
We had our first short and memorized speech in our Filipino classes today; named the different functions in an OpenOffice.org Writer (with the help of each other’s skills, knowledge, and cheating capabilities); and had endless numbers and operations in Math. I am serious when I say that I miss and prefer Algebra over Business Math. I like X’s and Y’s better than addition and blah blah of big numbers.
This day went good. Nothing extraordinary. I always see First College Crush (I still won’t name him!) so I’m not sad or feeling incomplete. Nah, I’m bluffing. That’s not how I feel; it’s just a crush – defensive!
*sings* When I met you boy my heart went knock, knock. // Now them butterflies in my stomach won't stop, stop.
I was insanely lame and just-myself today.27 July 2010, TuesdayI had a lot of realizations today, much to my desire.
First, I realized that our *insert subject name here* professor pisses me off. She had canceled our supposed-to-be-long-but-turned-out-to-be-just-a-20-item-quiz, because the majority of us didn’t review! What the hell everyone? Are we still stuck in high school? Even in my old school we don’t cancel quizzes. It was just frustrating... But anyway, I didn’t bother making my head burn. I didn’t want to ruin my day just because of delays. And I’m not inconsiderate, so whatever.
Second, I realized that Microeconomics is not for me.
Really. It makes me sleepy... and I don’t like curves, graphs, and theories.
Third, I am finally positive that I adore Prof. Erika. I love every English subject educator. My first mission: A+ in Communication Arts!
I felt like Gautama Buddha today (because of the realization stuffs).28 July 2010, WednesdayThis was one of them days that I won’t forget... ever!
I was quite excited for our first hands-on exercises in Basic Computer because we’d be using MAC computers. Yes, I was ignorant. I was naive. I didn’t even know how to log it off! We don’t have MACs at home; we’re just poor people.

The use of MAC wasn’t the reason why this day’s unforgettable. I’m not that shallow. It’s because of our first NSTP outreach program in an almost-depressed area somewhere in Taguig City. We cooked the food for the people, served and fed them. It was overwhelming. The smiles on their faces miraculously eased the pain of my quite-burnt skin. It was such an amazing experience.
I was very tired this day, but it felt amazing and fulfilling.29 July 2010, ThursdayI felt stupid, looked stupid, and was just plain stupid this day.I was very excited when our PE1 professor announced that we’d be having running exercises this meeting. I missed running like a mad escaped prisoner. I like to run because I feel like flying (since there really isn’t Quidditch in the muggle world). But I guess my lack of physical exertion these past months made my endurance weak. I was actually planning (and dreaming) of becoming the “Last Student Standing”... or
running, in our case. But geez, I was the first one to quit! Failure!
All the remaining adrenaline in my system had dissolved when I learned that we’d be having our medical exams today, and unfortunately, it involved blood test and scary and dangerous needles. Oh no! And oh yes,
I hate needles. I run away from them. I fear them. I faint because of them. I tremble for thy needles. I cry because of them. Okay then, I admit, I cried –
baby cry, not teenager cry. Since I can’t throw tantrums or run away back home that moment, I just cried my fear out. But the nurse had successfully managed to get some precious blood out of me. I still cried after the extraction.
Extraction... even the word freaks me out! Other people (professors, administrators, the President!) and my schoolmates saw my puffy eyes, and I was so embarrassed that I could have my own star in the Walk of Shame! I’m quite proud of myself because I got through, but I wouldn’t make contact with those needles again if I have the chance.
My dramatic scene earlier made me sleepy while taking PHGC exams. I pulled through. It wasn’t that hard. I am sure that I now have one mistake (I answered Archeologist instead of Historian). I hope that mistake won’t grow into mistakes.
30 July 2010, FridayI had my realizations again... same subjects.
I realized that I sucked in *insert subject name here*. I know that I will get 13 points out of 20 in our delayed quiz. I didn’t even understand the questions. Now I’m scared of the coming Preliminary exams next week. I seriously need to review this weekend.
I fear Microeconomics’, too. Prof. Mandrake said that he had made a multiple choice-type of test, but still, the lessons kill me! Hey brain, be patient please? Tough week ahead.
We had our exams in Communication Arts today, which was a surprise in our part. Thank goodness Prof. Erika just gave us Common Sentence Errors as the questions. I still am confused with the correct form of verbs for indefinite pronouns. So... five examinations to go!
I love Fridays.
Thirty Days
It’s odd to think that it took me centuries to realize how college differs from high school. People always tell us before that
college will be harder, crazier and way different from our easy breezy high school days. I didn’t believe them... but I do now.
It’s been a month since I first stepped on what they call “the harder, crazier and way different educational stage.” It’s been a month since I first felt awkward, out of place, ignorant, nerd and
jologs (not that I don’t feel that way anymore). My first thirty days were exhausting, especially PE classes. The assignments and the professors’ ways of teaching (without much elaboration and explaining, without using Manila papers and cartolina, with the constant PowerPoint presentations) made me feel like my mind and my bones were extracted and pushed to their extent. In simpler words, I was always tired and drained.
So college is harder indeed.College is crazier – that’s an underestimation. Let’s put it this way:
College will drive you mad. Hard school works plus different community is equals to asylum. The eccentricity and random personalities of my schoolmates is crazy, crazy, crazy! And oh, in just a month, I already have my first college crush. *A moment’s silence please... Flat line.* So okay, my no-boys contract was totally neglected. But hey, it’s just a crush; nothing serious. And I’m positive that he likes someone I know... Patch up this broken heart. Geez. I had once denied that I like him, that I only think he’s friendly and smart, and he has nice eyes and smile –
just that. But one time, when I saw him smiling, with our eyes on each other, I got stupidly distracted... and that’s when I knew that those horribly familiar butterflies were fluttering back to my stomach again. I hate it when a guy smiles like that and would easily make a girl swoon and get all crazily infatuated – that stuff only happen in movies and novels. But I’m still sticking with the agreement between my heart and my mind; no breach of contract!
Even with my new reason for blushing (my crush for that instance), there are still some times that I feel sad, depressed, frustrated and different. I know,
college is way different. Like, you don’t need to stand when reciting anymore, you can just walk away if you think the classes are dull, you don’t need to accomplish complete and tidy notes for extra points anymore, the others won’t care if you got an A+ on your last quiz or if you saw your celebrity crush in person yesterday.
It’s not like high school, where you could achieve instant fame if you top a test or when you broke up with your boyfriend because he forgot to call you last night. Not that I want fame or attention, it’s just that it feels awkward and odd and all. I feel afraid and worried of not having someone I could celebrate with when we had successfully survived prelims, someone who is serious but still have the child in his/herself, someone who is transparent and real. Maybe I’m still looking for that someone... maybe I still don’t know my schoolmates that much. It’ll take time, but I’m willing to wait.
Movie Review: Eclipse

Isabella Swan was a normal teenage girl, in a normal world, until she met Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. Since then she has been up against a sadistic vampire, the Volturi and an angry werewolf, Paul. But what lies ahead is something only Edward’s ‘brother’, Jasper Hale, can help the Cullens with. A newborn vampire army created by revenge ridden Victoria for what Edward did to her mate, James. ‘Mate for mate,’ as Victoria sees it. But what she doesn’t know is the Cullens have a secret on their side. With graduation coming fast, Bella gets more and more worried about becoming immortal and the fight. But the real question is: Who will she choose?
©
Eclipse is my favorite book from the saga (we always have our favorites!), because it is full of action and revelations. Best parts of the book are Rosalie’s and Jasper’s pasts, the Quileute tribe and Chapter 20:
Compromise. Chapter 20 is the part where Bella tries to convince Edward to sleep with her, though technically, he can’t, because vampires don’t sleep. Edward is always so smart.
I am glad that the movie lived up to my expectations. I was surprised when I learned, even before seeing it, that the production staff had included the parts that I liked the most. I was quite expecting that they’d cut them because it will be too long. But surprise! It made me more anxious to see the movie.
The movie was great. It was the best movie from the saga so far. The new characters were casted well, and the old ones had improved in every aspect: looks, acting skills, wardrobe, hair and bodies. Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) looked less pale than usual. He was really messed up in
New Moon, like he was always in pain (although he really was in the book), so
Eclipse was kind of a makeover for him, and he smiled that crooked smile a lot. If you’d see the first movie again, you’d notice the difference – and for me, it’s positive. He looked better.
Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) was very pretty. I had always loved her hair, and she seemed happier in this movie. Hilarious, actually. Bella’s best scenes were the ones where she had stupidly broken her hand (hit a werewolf, what a genius move, Bella); when she spent her time with her mother, Rene (Sarah Clarke); when she had the uncomfortable sex talk with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke); and the moment where she let her blood flow from her arm to distract Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Riley (Xavier Samuel) (quite heroic).
The Cullens were still gorgeous. It’s good to see them work their muscles off. Esme (Elizabeth Reaser) and Alice (Ashley Greene) looked even prettier when they fight. Emmet (Kellan Lutz) was always big, yeah. Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) was one of the best characters in this movie, and he looked better when he talked and became open and not just looked stiff. And I love how he looked when he wasn’t a vampire yet, and that moment when he said “She [Alice] had found me even before I realize that I was looking for her.” And why did Rosalie (Nikki Reed) look like Barbie? She wasn’t that much pretty before. Maybe it was because of the hair? She totally reminded me of my old dolls. Unbelievable – and unfair.
“Who the hell knows?” (when teenagers are asked about what they would want to be). I agree with Jessica Stanley (Anna Kendrick), though I disagree with the writer’s idea of making her a Valedictory address. I thought it would be Angela Webber (Christian Serratos) (because she was more serious in studying and Jessica was just gossiping with Bella in the books), but Jessica nailed it! And it looked more convincing with her delivering it, better than anyone else, because the speech was light and funny and less serious, but very true. “This is the time to make mistakes, to be in the wrong train and get stuck somewhere.”
And oh yes Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), you were way hotter than Edward,
literally. We all knew that. Don’t rub it in Edward’s face. Why was Seth (Booboo Stewart)’s voice so puberty-ish? And why was Paul (Alex Meraz) still so damn hot? Imprint on me, Paul! Please. I don’t care if you smelled like a dog or maybe drooled like one, or about the fact that you were always running half-naked.
Before this imprint thing goes crazy (my movie reviews suck), I am positive that you would like
Eclipse. So go buy yourself a movie ticket and that over-priced popcorn, and fall in love... with the werewolves and Chief Swan! He was an adorable father.
I write movie reviews like crap.
14 July 2010: Blog Anniversary

Dear
Public Blog,
Happy Birthday to you! I’m very sorry that I didn’t put this entry on the exact date, but does it really matter?
It’s your first birthday, I know. Your first year should have been grand, but I don’t know how blogs celebrate their anniversaries. Anyway, I just want to let you know how glad I am that I made you. I don’t regret anything that has to do with you. Everything about you is so perfect that my week wouldn’t be complete without connecting with you and posting my blabs and rants here. You’re just awesome!
My past twelve months with you were very
random and carefree. Like, I was always myself with you. You welcomed everything that I would want to say with your warm and open “New Post” page. Even my non-sense and out-of-this-world posts were published without hesitations and second thoughts. You were very patient with my constant change of templates and skins, my amateur code works and those stupid playlists and other stupid widgets that I stupidly put in stupidly-chosen stupid parts of this blog. I had always admitted that I suck at web codes and stuffs. But thank you for understanding my idiocy and ignorance.
Thank you for bearing my sad and unreasonable rants that I made because of vanity and self-centeredness. Thank you for accepting photos and videos of the people that I love and the celebrities and boys that I freely stalk. Thank you for not giving up every time my wrong grammars and typo errors invaded your smart ass checker. Thank you for publishing my written works that wouldn’t even pass in an amateur writing contest. Thank you for making me feel that I am your “Best Writer” every time, in every way. Thank you for becoming the medium for me to meet superb bloggers and read their superb entries. They had always inspired me to write more about the people and things around me – and to always check my grammar and use genius words.
Thank you for everything Online Diary! Thank you for the 365 days that you had spent with me. I am looking forward to having more years with you. Stay awesome! I love you.
Always random,
Faye
Personality Disorder
It was a very tiring week for me. I was so battered I didn’t get to write a journal every day, so I think I could only manage to have a week-long account of my crazy college life.
I’m starting to get used to the smell and noise from the construction works above, beside and under the school’s building; to the annoying long lapse of break time; to the bone-breaking cold in every room; to the grogginess I feel every subject; to the conflicting schedule and the available rooms; to the surprising increase in the number of students; and to the unusual behaviors of my schoolmates.
Surprising. In a span of week, I had realized that above average (by community status) kids also get broke and short.
How normal; I’m naive. I’m starting to realize that not all of them are brat assess that could always get what they want. They are normal and mediocre people, too: they eat
tapsilog, order at a fast-food chain, walk under the heat of the glaring sun, ride
jeepneys, complain about the overpriced food in the cafeteria, do
jologs stuffs, and yeah, get broke and short. Maybe I overestimated them; maybe I was just ignorant.
My Tuesday, which was my 17th birthday, was very normal and quiet. I didn’t dare tell them that it was my birthday that day. I don’t want a spotlight on me; I don’t want too much attention. They only learned about it through Facebook. Social networking sites – advantageous and disadvantageous. Ugh. All I really wanted for my birthday was to watch
Eclipse. My schedule and fate didn’t want to give way for me to sit in front of a big screen inside a very dark room with my best friend slash forever movie companion beside me. I want to see Riley and Victoria and Seth and Rosalie’s and Jasper’s pasts come to life!
I was a bit annoyed and irritated this week. It was because of the very long break time last Thursday and because of my friend’s secret being passed on to every block mate. It was very wrong! It was a very personal secret, and it could ruin her future and her chance to still study and learn despite of her situation. I felt furious; my teeth were grinding madly against each other. About the break time, we started with our drastic and painful-to-the-butt PE1, from 7:30 to 9:30 am. After that... break time.
Wretched break time. Our next class was PHGC at 2 pm. Four and a half hours of boredom and stupid affairs. Good thing Fully Booked was just a few walks away; my life is practically about endless books, anyway.
I am still irritated, I don’t know why. I need chocolates or anything new to read – and
Eclipse.
02 July 2010: Overly Odd Odds
My first class for Friday starts at 8 am. I got out of the house at 6:45 am. Too early, but not for this day. Dang! I was aware that today is
Pasig Day, but I didn’t realize that the traffic could be wretched like what happened this morning. I was already in the verge of crying silently because I was running late. We will be having our first group reporting in Communication Arts, and I was late! Ugh.
But odds were in my favor today. There was another change in the schedule again. What’s new? We had Psychology – again – for the first subject instead of Communication Arts. And we all had expected to be dismissed earlier; our old schedule says that Friday is a half-day. But everyone got frustrated when we learned that we’d have classes until 3 in the afternoon. Fail!
Plans were cancelled, moods were bad.Psychology today was weird. Our professor was actually absent, so someone took charge of us and made us report about something we know about the subject. I did the reporting, an improvement on my part.
No guts, no glory. I pulled through without humiliating myself.
We had Microeconomics with Prof. Mandrake. I was excited for the class; I like Economics, but don’t count the graphs and curves in. I had participated well, just enough. But I was still very tactless. I kept on blurting out answers in advance and corrections that sounded harsh. Sorry, Sir Drake. I’m an idiot and careless.
Communication Arts was fun, though I nearly freaked out when the reporting started. We weren’t the best, but not the worst, of course. Allen and Jemimah, my group mates, were good. Allen dropped the bomb with his dancing abilities, which was really unnecessary. Another successful reporting! Friday is my favorite day from now on.
But I hate Fridays, too. Back in high school, I used to have this illness that always occurs these same days. I get sick or feel sick. And now it’s back. I am really sick to my swelling throat right now. My nose is running mad, and I am so tired. Weekend sickness is my nemesis. We are like Dr. Doopersmirtz and Perry the Platypus!
Oh, it’s Kim Mateo’s birthday today. So it means that mine is creeping near already. I am not even aware. I am getting older. Geez. I hope Samuel will greet me through his tweets. I am hopeless, I know! Oh well, happy birthday Kim!
What a first week! I lost weight already, and it makes me feel weak. But I think I’m still healthy – I still can spell
pathetic and
idiocy, a good sign.
01 July 2010: Long Drastic Time
This day was so tiring and drastic like the fiery hell.We only have 3 subjects for Thursday: PE 1, Psychology, and Philippine History, but we need to be in school from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Dang. Just like last Tuesday, we met our professors for the said subjects the first time. Prof. Teodoro and Dr. Capulong will be our instructor for PE 1 and Psychology, respectively. Our supposed to be History professor was unfortunately out, so Prof. Mandrake took over the class for the mean time.
PE 1 was very fun. Prof. Teodoro was funny and very teenager-like. I am actually excited for our physical exams, though I really think I’d flunked on some of the exercises. My body is weak when it comes to physical exertion, honestly. I only passed my MAPEH subject back in high school because of my written exams. But in college, PE has no written exams. Oh no. Fail.
We’ve heard from the other students that the Psychology professor is a “terror.” I wasn’t really afraid; I was just worried about her giving us homework this early. Well, she was strict, direct to the point when speaking, looks very professional, but fair enough. We all ended up liking her because she dismissed us early! Like, we only had an hour with her, so we had an almost 4-hour break.
Long, drastic time of waiting and testing patience.I was so sleepy on the black couch in the lounge, so I had decided to visit my sanctuary again. I’ll never get tired of stopping over that big, big, full of books place. I could even die reading there! Martin Piscos came with me, but I didn’t notice him anymore when I restarted reading
Catching Fire. That was an exaggeration! I noticed people, of course. I even caught a glimpse of Liza Macuja, the famous ballerina. She was there with her children.
We ate at McDonald’s in Market! Market!, and arrived early in school. We visited the school library, which was a bit bigger and “cleaner” (I meant not too much books) than the norm. We met Kolin Villanueva and his gang inside. Wow. They were doing their Economics assignment. I hate Kolin; he always calls me “Valedictorian.” Duh, I have a name! Bluffing on the side.
History was a combination of fun and boring. I was quite glad that Prof. Mandrake handled us, but I also didn’t like it. Bipolar me. He talked sense, really. I learned so much from him, but he’s too talkative. He kept on giving examples and stuffs which we sometimes couldn’t relate to, told jokes that we easily could understand, and asked questions that we couldn’t answer. But he’s really good. He had just showed off his extra knowledge and talking expertise in the wrong time. Sleepy, groggy time. We were dismissed earlier eventually. Thank you!
It was a long and tiring day. I could lose pounds in just a week, and my throat is swelling. Hello weekend sickness!
29 June 2010: Professors and Cocktails
It’s like the first day of school... again! We met and got to know our professors for this semester. But we only had two subjects this day: Communication Arts and Economics 101. What an easy life! Prof. Erica Paner and Prof. Mandrake Calangian will teach us those subjects, respectively. We felt a bit lame because you could count us with just your two hands and your one pinky toe. I could even name them all without looking at their faces. Sad.
But this day was fun, as well. This late afternoon was the
Freshmen Night Out. We’re lucky we only had two subjects today. I had decided last night that I would just change clothes in the school, so I already brought my outfit with me. I still have 5 hours to spare, so I visited my sanctuary: a bookstore. I half-walked half-ran to Fully Booked because I was so excited like a toddler in a park to get my hands on that shiny red-covered
Catching Fire. I so miss Peeta Mellark and his breads! The story was so sad but very exciting: Peeta and Katniss Everdeen were engaged already because they need to prove that they did the berries act out of crazy and insane love; Gale Hawthorne had kissed Katniss; Haymitch Abernathy was back to his alcohol’s arms again; President Snow was acting all bitchy; and they’re both rich now, and
oh my God, back to my journal.

I saw Rob, the white guy, of
Pinoy Big Brother while strolling in Bonifacio High Street - Serendra. I got to school by past 4, and my mind was still left on the book. I was living in Panem with Katniss and Peeta and was constantly testing my slim odds on the
Reaping... I only got back to reality when my new friends arrived. And so we did the usual preps for the party. I was really nervous, but excited.
My heels could kill me!
The party started by 6 pm. They had bands to perform, gift prizes to give away, finger foods for our stomachs, and a runway that could either make or break us for the rest of the semester. I tried not to think of the fashion show. I talked to new people and made new friends again: Angelo Ampil, Gideon Marcelino, Micheal James, Gabriel Villanueva, the small girl, Diana Agulto and her friend. The agenda of this event had worked.

Tick tock. Time had passed so fast. I didn’t realize that the runway was open already. So alright, I can do this... and I did! Thanks to my partner Martin, I didn’t need to face the possible shame alone. It wasn’t a shame at all, though. Angela won as the Best Female Model of the Night, by the way! I knew she’ll pull it off. She’s awesome. And speaking of awesome, Awesome, I mean Angelo, won as the Best Male Model. Angela and Angelo – what a coincidence. Insane!
This day was a first. Good thing I decided to come or I would have missed all the fun.
28 June 2010: First School Day
Honestly, I did not sleep well last night. I was so paranoid about this day, which is sort of stupid. Like,
what the hell, first day of school is the norm in my life already. But I don’t know. There’s just something about the school and my schoolmates that makes me nervous... Oh, I know!
I don't have friends yet. Fail.
I arrived at school at an earlier time, and it was lame. My mom was also paranoid about my first day. Maybe she was excited... but I was really not. Not having friends yet on the first day is very sad. I didn’t have someone to sit beside when I arrived. And I was so quiet you’d thought I was sleeping or already dead.
And then Scarlet Castillo and Angela Vinoya arrived... and I was glad again! We stuck together throughout the long drastic time of waiting. Talking about our school and boys erases our impatience. Lek Dellosa and Heartie Villaluz were also with us; they are both from Laguna. While waiting for our turn with the photo shoot, we met Mark Cortes. He was so talkative it left us speechless. He supplied most of the topics and questions which were answered by him anyway.
After the photo shoot for our IDs, we decided to eat somewhere in Market! Market!, because our stomachs were grumbling like hell. We met Kolin Villanueva, as well. I can categorize him in the emo-but-cool people type. Because Mark was so swag and too much friendly, he asked a schoolmate of ours if we could have a ride with him. Take note: we don’t even know who that guy was! But he was accommodating and nice enough to let us in. Perks! We ate at North Park, had some laughs and shared our rants about the school.
I made friends on my first day – what an accomplishment! Not a traumatic first day after all.
