Our beloved chairman of the board and President Mr. Francisco P.V. Cayco; Vice presidents of Arellano University; administrators and faculty; parents; fellow graduates; ladies and gentlemen, good evening to all of you.
When I left grade school, I thought my life would be miserable. I thought I wouldn’t find my happiness anymore. I was afraid of the coming high school years. I thought it would be very hard, and that I would not survive. But I was wrong. High school is not all hard works and pain. It is fun, momentous, and full of joy.
They say high school is the most memorable academic stage an individual will ever experience. Everything starts in high school: from meeting and socializing with different people, to finally finding one’s true self. We discovered what our potentials are, and we had our chance to prove our worth. High school brought out the best and the worst in us. There were times that we celebrate and rejoice. There were times that we nearly gave up.
When we felt like life is hard and unfair, because of school works and pressure, there were people who had lifted us up from our own pile of despair and hopelessness. Yes, we call them friends.
The best thing about high school is the friendship that we formed. If not for my friends, I would not be standing with pride in front of you. They were the ones who had encourage me to work harder. They were with me through my ups and downs, through projects and home works, through happiness and success. They made my life colorful and lively and they had filled the emptiness inside me. I could not imagine surviving high school without them. So dear fellow graduates and friends, I thank you for everything – for the laughter, support, care, understanding, boosters, and love. I will forever keep you in my heart.
Teachers also played a big role in making each one of us a big success. They were the ones empowered with a full mind, a big heart, a basket full of understanding and patience, and an undying love and support. They were the people who motivated us to leave no stone unturned and to pass our exams with flying colors. Without them, we would never discover and hone the talents that have long been hiding in our closets. Our world will not be complete without these wonderful teachers. Fellow graduates, why don’t we give our mentors a big round of applause? On behalf on my batch mates, I thank you all for sharing your thoughts and your life with us, most especially, to Mr. Valencia. I know that you are going through rough times these days, but still, you are here with us. We love you.
But if there are people whom we really should be thankful for, it would be our parents – our super dads and wonder moms. They work hard just to send us to a decent school, and have been sweating with blood and tears to make both ends meet. They have been guiding us all our lives and never did they underestimate our skills and potentials. And I know that this graduation day is an accomplishment not only for us, but for them as well. We owe a lot to them. If it wasn’t for our parents, we will never be who we are today. Our dear parents, you all deserve a big hug and a round of applause. We love and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
On a personal note, I would like to express how fortunate I am for having my family, whose love and concern have always been a pillar in my life. Their absolute trust has been the greatest gift ever given to me. Not once in my life did they doubt my judgment or tell me I wasn’t good enough to do something. To my Mama, you know that I did this for you. You are the person who inspires me the most. I will forever love you.
Yes, college is approaching fast. Well, here it is. We are one step closer to the bigger world. We will all head on to different directions, and face tougher challenges ahead. But before anything else, let us not forget our dear Alma Mater. Let us not forget that we became part of Arellano University. Let us be proud that we came from a very loving school. Remember that this school has molded us to be better individuals, has shown us what we are capable of doing, and has led us the way to success.
Unlike what I first felt before high school, I am no longer dreading for college. I am no longer afraid of what the future might bring. I understand that I am in for tougher and harder works. But because of what my high school experience had taught me, I will not be a scared cat anymore. All geared up for college, I will be the best that I can be. I am determined to succeed, and to reach the dreams within me.
Fellow graduates, always remember to put God first; to give Him the honor in everything you do. Never walk away from your dreams. If you believe in yourself and you have full trust in God, you will succeed. Do not be afraid to take risks. Do not just dream of a successful journey: begin it.
To everyone who bears witness to this momentous event in our life - our graduation - our deepest gratitude. To my fellow graduates, congratulations and good luck.

This is my original and very emotional speech. Emotional in a way that I shed tears just to make this one better and to deliver it the best way I can. But this is not exactly what I said at the actual Graduation day. I altered some, I forgot some. Hoho!

When I left grade school, I thought my life would be miserable. I thought I wouldn’t find my happiness anymore. I was afraid of the coming high school years. Already several months had passed, and I am missing
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry more and more each fleeting day. There are just some things in life that we can never forget – especially that something that had given us knowledge, skills, strong relationships and a second home. I am glad that everything in the magical world is now at peace, since Voldemort (yes, I can now say his name; no need to be afraid) had died. I had secretly admired Tom Marvolo Riddle (Voldemort’s birth name) though, because of his intelligence, passion and love for magic. Wasn’t he very clever to think of and conjure his seven
Horcruxes to preserve his life, or form a clan of
Death Eaters who were very loyal to him and would give up their lives just for him to succeed? Not everybody can acquire that much loyalty from people these days. I do not, however, admire him for the way he had carried out all of his plans. He had a good agenda, his means just weren’t morally right. But he still is one of the darkest wizards of all time… and let’s leave it that way.
Oh, for all those who are baffled of what I’m saying here and who the heck I am, my name is
Christine Faye Ordas, and I am an alumnus of Hogwarts. I came from the bronze-and-blue-clad house of the smart ass witch Rowena Ravenclaw and her dictum
“Wit beyond measure is a man’s greatest treasure.” And yes, I know the wonderful Luna Lovegood (she’s such a darling) and Harry Potter’s first crush Cho Chang. I had just left Hogwarts last May. Right now I am trying to pursue a career in magical researches, literature and writing. It’s my dream to inscribe intellectual books, publish and sell them in
Flourish and Blotts for the future Hogwarts students’ use. I am also planning to credibly write for the
Daily Prophet, the magical world’s primary news bulletin. And of course, I will be very much honored to contribute to Mr. Xenophilius Lovegood’s
Quibbler (hence, my interest in magical researches). I have always found the Lovegoods a fascinating family, and I bet working with and for them will be very exciting. Or maybe, in Merlin’s beard’s time, I can write legends and bedtime stories like the famous – and wickedly brilliant – Beedle the Bard.
And that’s how my life goes these days. I am utterly missing my old school, my friends, the Great Hall, the bronze eagle knocker just outside the Ravenclaw common room, Professor Flitwick (the head of our house), Hogsmeade, the Quidditch matches (although I didn’t actually play for the house), the moving portraits, the castle ghosts, the pumpkins on Halloween, the giant pine trees on Christmas, Rubeus Hagrid’s (Hogwarts’ gamekeeper) tea and treacle fudge – even the crabby Argus Filch (Hogwarts’ caretaker) I miss. Maybe I can visit the school grounds sometimes and see how the magical world’s been doing since Voldemort died (I’ve been spending my months in the muggle world, you see). I’ve heard everybody’s been moving on and starting all over again; the ministry is back on work under Kingsley Shacklebolt; and Harry Potter’s scar haven’t been disturbing him since.
All is well, indeed.
And because of that, we should celebrate and drink firewhisky! Oh, I still don’t drink firewhisky; I can take butterbeer or tea or pumpkin juice – just not firewhisky, please.
