October: In A Nutshell
Time really does fly so fast – like a
bullet. It just passes your eyes and the next thing you know, the year is almost closing and you’re getting older. And it’s
frightening. It’s almost 2013 and I’m still here, the extravagance my life needs come in a snail-like motion: slow, little by little, almost non-existent. I would’ve tapped fate in its shoulder and say, “Do I really have to wait this long?” but the old virtue about patience and good things apparently coming to those who wait stops me from doing so.
October is coming to its end. This month is one of my favorites since it’s my boys’ (Sam and Colton) birthday month (and I’m clueless about their respective celebrations), and Halloween is amazing, and the weather is fine, and it marks the end of the school’s first term. So what happened to me this month? Nothing in particular. It wasn’t like what happened last September: the Sports Fest and the stress throwing weather in the room. It’s an easy-breezy month. Yes, the nagging sessions with my mother were awful, but school was good to me so I managed to not completely deteriorate. I’m a bit broken in some places, but a little sticky glue can put me back to pieces.

This post is officially non-existent for its malicious content and senseless, who-gives-a-fuck topic, written no less by the sole student taking Bachelor of Arts in Peculiarity, majoring in Bull Writing. Never mind this post. I was under the influence of
not having any influence when I wrote this. Not having a creative inspiration sucks, and this post is a living example. (What’s up with the post title, right?)
FAQs
Tuesday, October 09, 2012
FAQs stand for Formspring Asked Questions (and not for Frequently Asked Questions). I decided to check my abandoned account and I found some sensible questions that don’t ask about my day or the weather and don’t say “Pass this to your beautiful followers!” (Meh.) These questions, I did try to answer as plainly as I can. I’m proud of this post, really. Read: “Things that matter hurt, especially when they threaten to leave us. We always hear people say that when we’re happy, we’re going to be okay. No, please, that’s
not true. We can never be happy if we don’t experience pain and suffering. There’s no racing game where there aren’t obstacles, and you need to surpass these obstacles to get to the finish line.” Am I not smart? (Meh twice.)

I can say that this is one of my sincerest posts
ever. This is an entry dedicated to my bookworm alter ego named Loony Dragonslayer (I spontaneously made that up). My history as a bookworm started with cheesy, romance pocketbooks and my expression “Eugh, couples do that?” I would’ve still be reading them and pushing myself deeper in the Loser Pit had somebody not shoved the
Sweet Valley series (Francine Pascals) in my face. And I wouldn’t have gotten myself engrossed with Young Adult Fiction had I not realized how glorious libraries are and how cathartic reading intergalactic awesomeness is. Thank God for weirdly infested mind. Don’t get me? Read further.

There are pros and cons of being a leader, but they depend in whether your members are
fantastic or are such
bulls. I won’t be a bloated, egocentric person and declare that I’m the best leader the nation could ever have, but always being one is kind of tiring and frustrating already. When you expect a lot and not meet them, it can actually destroy a part of – if not the whole – you. When there’s no team work, the “spearhead” label you have will only feel like someone’s
spearing your
head. But then years of experience taught me that a team doesn’t need a leader, but a team needs a
team.
Photo Blog: Five Months
Friday, October 26, 2012
The first semester is finally over, and the memories I experienced in the last five months are what I’ll bring with me in the next five more. I’m not enthusiastic to start all over again, but I’d rather start fresh than not put an end to things that should really end. I’m not so excited about the works and new professors and students I’d be spending my academic time with, but I’m stoked enough to sweep the units off that I don’t care about apprehensions and workloads anymore.

I only have two months left, and only 89 reads in my list. As far as my reading goes, I have 85% confidence that I can do it; I can reach 100 before 2013 starts. I’m a tiny bit dubious, but a good time management practice will help me like how ambrosia helps a wounded hero.
October reads:
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare (internally crying from all these feels);
A Nest of Ninnies by John Ashbery and James Schuyler (weird families whom the rain consistently follows);
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (I can’t decide between Alex and Julian, not that Ms. Oliver cares);
The Woman Who Had Two Navels by Nick Joaquin (twisted people with their twisted lives and the conflict about how many navels a person should have);
Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town by Stephen Leacock (Peter Pupkin is my awkward hero!);
The Violent Bear It Away by Flannery O’Connor (what happened in the end was so devastating yet so outrageous); and
The Centaur by John Updike (Olympus as Olinger High School, and Lord Hades as Heller the barman = perfect).
Current read:
I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore; and
The Stonehenge Gate by Jack Williamson.
FAVORITE PERSON/S
Finally, my favorite person this October is my best friend. We met this month, and although the first event didn’t end up as majestic as how our days usually would, we are friends and still spreading awesomeness, and us being us, we’d just forget about it and carry on. It’s an unfathomable phenomenon how we never run out of things to talk about, how our typical conversation lasts for about
five hours. And it’s something new [in my part] how I never judge him and the decisions he make. It would normally bewilder me, but I can see how happy he is with his life and where he is right now. Whether he wants to be a superhero or a hermit, I’d still support him and even volunteer as his sidekick or beard-dresser. I’m sure he’d do the same for me.

Isn’t
Cole Sprouse so
handsome in this? I would’ve chosen this ovary-exploding Paul Wesley (
this) or Colton Dixon (
this) gif, but Cole is just so goddamn hilarious that Paul’s gorgeousness and Colton’s angelic smile are going down my list. Add to this, his smart ass caption for this photo is nothing but
smart ass: “People keep asking me, ‘Cole, why do post weird pictures of yourself?’ Because I can.” Amazing. Check out his
Tumblr blog, by the way, it’s just incredible.

- You Are – Colton Dixon (Again.)
- Winter Winds – Mumford and Sons (And my head told my heart, ‘Let love grow’, but my heart told my head, ‘This time no’.)
- Beauty And A Beat – Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj (Because the music video is hilarious and sexy.)

I did this. I edited this and made it decent. I’m an amateur in video editing, and obviously I don’t have a legitimate editor, thus the Wondershare watermark. This video is a requirement for a major subject: an advertisment for the AB Broadcasting program of RCS. You wouldn’t see me in this video since I’m shy (not) and I’d really rather work behind the camera and let the beautiful people take over what’s in front. The final grade of this is 1.50. a woeful & chaotic diary since 071409
Profile
Already several months had passed, and I am missing
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry more and more each fleeting day. There are just some things in life that we can never forget – especially that something that had given us knowledge, skills, strong relationships and a second home. I am glad that everything in the magical world is now at peace, since Voldemort (yes, I can now say his name; no need to be afraid) had died. I had secretly admired Tom Marvolo Riddle (Voldemort’s birth name) though, because of his intelligence, passion and love for magic. Wasn’t he very clever to think of and conjure his seven
Horcruxes to preserve his life, or form a clan of
Death Eaters who were very loyal to him and would give up their lives just for him to succeed? Not everybody can acquire that much loyalty from people these days. I do not, however, admire him for the way he had carried out all of his plans. He had a good agenda, his means just weren’t morally right. But he still is one of the darkest wizards of all time… and let’s leave it that way.
Oh, for all those who are baffled of what I’m saying here and who the heck I am, my name is
Christine Faye Ordas, and I am an alumnus of Hogwarts. I came from the bronze-and-blue-clad house of the smart ass witch Rowena Ravenclaw and her dictum
“Wit beyond measure is a man’s greatest treasure.” And yes, I know the wonderful Luna Lovegood (she’s such a darling) and Harry Potter’s first crush Cho Chang. I had just left Hogwarts last May. Right now I am trying to pursue a career in magical researches, literature and writing. It’s my dream to inscribe intellectual books, publish and sell them in
Flourish and Blotts for the future Hogwarts students’ use. I am also planning to credibly write for the
Daily Prophet, the magical world’s primary news bulletin. And of course, I will be very much honored to contribute to Mr. Xenophilius Lovegood’s
Quibbler (hence, my interest in magical researches). I have always found the Lovegoods a fascinating family, and I bet working with and for them will be very exciting. Or maybe, in Merlin’s beard’s time, I can write legends and bedtime stories like the famous – and wickedly brilliant – Beedle the Bard.
And that’s how my life goes these days. I am utterly missing my old school, my friends, the Great Hall, the bronze eagle knocker just outside the Ravenclaw common room, Professor Flitwick (the head of our house), Hogsmeade, the Quidditch matches (although I didn’t actually play for the house), the moving portraits, the castle ghosts, the pumpkins on Halloween, the giant pine trees on Christmas, Rubeus Hagrid’s (Hogwarts’ gamekeeper) tea and treacle fudge – even the crabby Argus Filch (Hogwarts’ caretaker) I miss. Maybe I can visit the school grounds sometimes and see how the magical world’s been doing since Voldemort died (I’ve been spending my months in the muggle world, you see). I’ve heard everybody’s been moving on and starting all over again; the ministry is back on work under Kingsley Shacklebolt; and Harry Potter’s scar haven’t been disturbing him since.
All is well, indeed.
And because of that, we should celebrate and drink firewhisky! Oh, I still don’t drink firewhisky; I can take butterbeer or tea or pumpkin juice – just not firewhisky, please.
